About

Ken is a member of the Wolastoqey First Nation in the community of Neqotkuk.

For almost two decades, Ken has advocated for First Nations Chiefs regionally, nationally and internationally on all aspects relating to fisheries, aquaculture, oceans governance and aquatic resources as they relate to inherent and treaty rights, legislation, and policy. This includes Indigenous Knowledge Systems, economic prosperity, community engagement and resource management.

Previous to this, he had worked for 10 years in field-based ocean mapping with the Canadian Hydrographic Service and another 10 years with Parks Canada as a Senior Policy Advisor in Atlantic Canada and the Field Unit Superintendent in the Northwest Territories.

Ken has an MBA with St Mary鈥檚 University and a BSc from 91短视频 in Halifax, Nova Scotia and has extensive training in leadership, policy development, mediation, labour relations, First Nations governance and traditional teachings.

Ken is currently the Lead Fisheries Negotiator for the Wolastoqey Nation, the Special Advisor for Oceana Canada, the Owner of Pokiok Associates, and is a dedicated father of two.
