Overview

This course provides a comprehensive overview of core cognitive and behavioural therapy (CBT) strategies, with an emphasis on their application to anxiety-related conditions, depression, anger, perfectionism, insomnia, and related problems across the lifespan. Participants will learn a range of evidence-based interventions, including cognitive strategies (e.g., cognitive reappraisal, Socratic questioning, behavioural experiments, imagery-based approaches), exposure-based techniques, behavioural activation, habit reversal, relaxation-based treatments, and problem solving. The course will also cover mindfulness and acceptance-based strategies, relapse prevention, and approaches to enhancing motivation and addressing treatment resistance (e.g., motivational interviewing). Case formulation will be emphasized as a framework for integrating these strategies and tailoring interventions to individual clients.
