The wrongful conviction of Donald Marshall Jr. shone a light on racism in the criminal justice system and helped lay the foundation for Dal's Indigenous Blacks & Mi’kmaq Initiative. Last month, the Schulich School of Law paid tribute to Marshall with the unveiling of a portrait in his honour.
