The Atlantic Canada Organic Regional Network (ACORN) is launching this fundraiser to establish a mutual aid emergency relief fund for farmers impacted by climate change.
Eligible applicants will:
- be registered farms or farms that operate on a more than subsistence basis
- practise ecological agriculture
- not be considered eligible for crop insurance
- be located in Atlantic Canada
This fund is intended to farmers in crisis or suffering losses due to environmental events (such as drought, flooding, and wildfires) requiring them to re-locate/evacuate, transport or replace goods, tools/equipment, or animals, replace income from crop losses, repair critical infrastructure, seek treatment for injuries or health losses.
