Introducing the 贵颈蝉丑鈥慦滨碍厂 Logo

Posted by Laura Addicott on January 1, 2014 in News

鈥淐alling all artists鈥 鈥 this was the appeal put out to the four Fish-WIKS communities in 2012.聽 Based on the concept of a circular medicine wheel with each of the four partner regions represented in one quarter of the logo, the Fish-WIKS Steering Committee asked聽 members of the participating communities to submit their designs for consideration to become part of the project logo.聽 The selected designs from each community received a $500 award.

The challenge for each artist and for the resulting combined logo was to create an image that is rich with a concept synonymous with the aims of the project.聽 As the face of the project, the logo serves as the core identifier and produces memorable associations for the project.

The result is a unique image that not only represents each of the four regions but also serves to communicate the project鈥檚 national scope.聽 The logo conveys the cultures of indigenous peoples and the importance of fisheries to their lives and well-being.

The Fish-WIKS team is proud to present the completed logo and extends thanks to the local artists 鈥撀 Percy Benson III in British Columbia, Calvin Smith in Nunavut, Lenita Denny in Nova Scotia and Sean Couchie in Ontario.
